Nintendo sales May 2006
In a recent press release Nintendo released their sales successes in May 2006. According to the NPD Group, Nintendo held the #1, and #3 spots for best selling games in May in the year of our Lord 2006. Those two games were New Super Mario Bros. ® and Brain Age™: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day for Nintendo DS™. One thing that makes this so memorable is New Super Mario Bros. ® went on sale on May 15. That means it won the month with only half a month of sales. The Nintendo DS Lite™ sold 136,500 units from June 11, to the date of the press release on June 14. Many retailers are reporting sellouts. That is a 12% increase in sales from the launch of the Gameboy Advance in 2003. Retailers are also reporting that Brain Age™: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day sales tripled in sales from the previous week, and New Super Mario Bros. ® doubled over the previous week. {06/16/2006}
